I use this LUT as a starting point for all my colour grading with my A7Siii. It’s a skin tone correction, adds a slight blue to shadows and a slight black level adjustment. It won’t finalise your image but it treats it in a way that fixes problems inherent in the alpha series camera. It also works on the FX3 and can work on previous gen alpha cameras but needs adjustments afterwards. It doesn’t change contrast much by design so you are able to use it on dark or bright footage without ruining it.

The Secondary MACHENFILM.cube file is a graded version that adds further contrast and saturation.

FOR BEST RESULTS

Expose footage for Slog (skin tones at 50% or 70% on skin highlights) with white balance then apply the lut. If you need to adjust levels do so on a previous node or previous instance of Lumetri and not on the node/Lumetri instance that the LUT is applied to. This ensures the LUT is affecting the correct exposure values and you maintain latitude and dynamic range.
